FROM ART HISTORY TO THE AVANT-GARDE
Through education, exposure and access, Lauren works closely with clients to develop and refine collections reflecting cohesion, connoisseurship and the personal sensibilities of its owners. She maintains an extensive network of galleries, private dealers, auction houses and collectors. Discretion and transparency are fundamental to her practice.
Lauren champions artists whose work is culturally and historically relevant and is exhibited widely, placed in private, institutional and corporate collections. Her vision is to curate meaningful collections of fine art, avoiding that which is derivative or merely fashionable.
Academically trained as an art historian, Lauren is an active participant in the secondary art market, procuring historically significant works of art for private collectors. She has negotiated the acquisition and sale of major works, including iconic examples by Arthur Dove, Marsden Hartley, Charles Burchfield, Milton Avery, Franz Kline, Joan Mitchell, Sol LeWitt, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
For new collectors, Lauren’s approach is highly personalized and accommodating with regard to aesthetic preferences and budget. She introduces clients to various media, from prints and photography to painting and sculpture, and facilitates the education process through gallery, auction house and artists’ studio visits. From initial proposal to installation, Lauren oversees the acquisition process including negotiation, framing, insurance appraisal, shipping and installation.
